"It has taken almost three years to accomplish, but at long last the Kiowa tribe re-entered the Indian Gaming Industry in a major way on May 22, 2007. There were many high hurdles to cross. At times it seemed like pushing water uphill. It has been well worth the effort, for now a facility the Kiowa people can take pride in is open. Many, perhaps hundreds, of people all played a part in this achievement. Members of the KBC, Kiowa Gaming Commission, attorneys, consultants, employees as well as rank and file Kiowas all came through at the right time to keep the project moving forward. There is no way to express our heartfelt gratitude for all of the support given to the KCOA during the last three years. Chairman Horse deserves special credit for not allowing us to lose sight that we were working for the Kiowa people. The KCOA has always been aware that all of the energy and prayers expended in getting the casino built and open was only getting the Kiowa Tribe to the starting line for economic prosperity. Now the real work begins. There is every indication that our casino will become an economic engine for the Tribe. We are well on our way, and there are good reasons to be confident in the success of the casino: • It is an excellent facility that people enjoy coming to. • Many of our marketing bench marks are ahead of predictions. • There is a fine staff that runs the casino very well. • We have good leadership, with a great deal of experience in running the kind of casino we wish to be known for. We have made a fine beginning. Yet, there are things that still need to be accomplished. A huge revenue generating business leapt into existence on that historical day. Any new business of that size is going to have issues to deal with. The KCOA is looking at the immediate future to maximize cash flow to the tribe in the quickest time frame possible. We are also looking at a long range strategic plan for not only the Red River facility, but other endeavors as well. This casino is truly just a beginning."
